Lost in the Wild

Meet Mr. Chinkara (Black Buck)

This poor little creature lost one of his relatives during a shoot-out in the year 1998.

Where? .... In Rajhastan.

Salman Khan, a well-known Indian actor, was found guilty for killing a black buck. In the year 2006, Salman Khan was finally sentenced to one year imprisonment and fined by the court.

Note this - the court took nearly eight years to make a decision.

Next on the list is Jessica Lal's murder. The woman had been shot dead in the year 1999. It is 2006 and there is still no progress in the case.

The number of pending cases are many and most of them are being stretched unnecessarily due to insufficient evidences or witnesses and corrupt legal practices. Everyone is familiar about the lengthy court battles that a common man always face when pleading for justice..

Here is your chance to voice your opinion.

What do you feel about the legal practices in India? Do you think they are fair enough? Elaborate.

Pablo Picasso.. Who me? - Part 1

After being postponed and re-postponed, the Class XII farewell finally took place today. It was a total crap!!

Wait - the previous line did not have a good impact. Well let me repeat it once again...

It was CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPP!

Imagine a farewell ceremony with no entertainment. Last year, we had put up such a beautiful farewell ceremony for the previous Class XII batch. We had put in so much hardwork in order to make that day memorable...

And what do we get in return? Nothing!

No music.. No dance... Not even food! All that the school could give us was a mini pizza, dry samosa, cake and a can of Pepsi. The previous batch had such a nice meal - thanks to us. Each one of us, had contributed 2 DINAR for their function.

CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!

Twenty years from now, when my kids ask me - 'Mama, how was your farewell in Class XII?',
what will I tell them...?!? Should I tell them that we sang (...National Anthems), held candles (..while burning my hand), took oaths (..with my fingers crossed) and wore graduation gowns (Man! I looked like an old lady in it!) ?

If you still find reading this interesting - then I am sure you will not mind reading the rest about the farewell...

1. MORNING RAAGA

For the first time in my life :

- I wore a bindi on my forehead. The kind of bindi Komolika wears in Kasauti Zindagi Ki..
- I put mehndi tatoos on both hands
- I painted my nails with nail polish
- I left my hair loose (Usually I prefer tying my hair)
- I wore a high heel shoe
- I straightened my hair

All this made me look more feminine. I never realised that I could look so great!

Wearing my ghagra-choli was a HERCULEAN TASK! There were so many zips, hooks and ribbons...It was so complicating!

2. RAMP SHOW

Even before the farewell ceremony could begin, all the guys and girls showed off like anything. The girls were like busy adjusting their 'pallu', combing their hair and what not... They didn't even spare "THE TOILET" (Click here to know more about THE TOILET!)

They all thought that they looked hot until the real star arrived.. Who? Me, of course.

2. CLOWNS IN GOWNS?

Soon our "RENTAL" graduation gowns and caps arrived. The students were divided into three categories based on the size of the gown- small, medium and heavy.

ME came under the heavy category. No comments.

3. THE CEREMONY

Each one of us, were asked to come on stage with a lighted candle and take oaths. We were all given a special momento..

As we went up on stage, one by one, to recieve the momento, the announcers gave a brief description about us...

Guess what they said about me...

'[insidemamind] (Name changed for obvious reasons!) is soft... gentle...' - blah blah blah - ' She is a Pablo Picasso' - blah blah blah blah...

Me a Picasso? Ewwwwwwwwwww! But seriously speaking, I forgot that I was good in painting as I spent most of my time studying and going for tuitions. I feel really bad that I have not given justice to my interests.

Next came the speeches... After hearing so many speeches, the only reaction that took place was in my stomach..

Yes! I was hungry after listening to all the boring speakers.

4. PHOTO SESSION

I love photo sessions!! I can't even count how many photos I have appeared in. The school took a group photo of the girls and the guys in their graduation robes.

We were NOT supposed to throw our caps in the air... After all they have been rented from somewhere...

5. KHANA KHAZANA

I was so happy when I came to know that we would be offered food because I was really hungry.. I could even eat a horse!

But when I saw what was actually there in my school's KHAZANA, my hunger vanished away in thin air!

6. HIDE - N - SEEK

I had taken everyone's picture except Maali's. I had searched for him, till I finally found him standing opposite the Basket Ball court.

Sometimes I really feel that Maali is a girl and I am a guy... 'Coz I have much more guts than him even though I am shy.

It takes a lot of pain to get him in the right position for the photo. So I made his friend to take a picture of his with my camera.

--------------

That's all for now.

Pablo Picasso .. Who me? - Part 2 coming soon

Call Me a NERD

Yep! You can call me a NERD from this day onwards.

Today is the most special day of my life. I have hit the Bull's Eye finally..

Last night, my class teacher showed me the blue sheet (The paper on which our result for the current term is written)

I saw it! And I could not believe what I saw .... I have stood 1st in the class this time for the Pre-Boards!

Yaaaaaahoooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the second time I have stood first. The last time was in Class IX. I have stood first in lower classes so many times, but that's not to be counted since it's easy to come 1st in Kindergarten and Primary classes.

I tell you it was not easy task to arrive at the first position. I live in a small flat : it has a small living room, kitchen and bathroom. That's all! My parents, brother and myself sleep in the same room. The worst thing is when my parents are not at work - the house is a living hell. There is so much noise that I can't study at all...

But I have made through it. When there were fights in my house, I locked myself in the bathroom and studied there. During the wee hours of the morning, I used to sit near the kitchen and study there...

I used to envy all my classmates because they all lived in big flats, especially the girl who always
used to get the first rank in class. Her house is like a palace.

She has a spacious bedroom for herself. It's so beautiful and sooooooo peaceful. It is an ideal place to study. She is a very lucky girl!!

Today, I don't feel it's an essential criteria to have a separate room for yourself to study. A student can study anywhere if he / she is really determined to study. You can study in the toilet, kitchen or even on the street if you have the will to do so.

Ok - I think I have bored you enough!

But yes - I am totally happy with what I have achieved!
